SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team announced the signing of two Texas high school athletes, Jacob Richardson and Austin Skopal.
Jacob Richardson | 6'4 | Wall High School
Richardson, a five-sport athlete at Wall, was the District 6-3A MVP. He was a Region 1-3A All-Region selection, and an Academic All-State performer. The Hawks went 23-11 his senior season, winning both district and bi-district championships.
Head Coach
Vinay Patel on Richardson becoming a Ram, "We are very excited that Jacob decided to stay close to home to play. He had a tremendous senior year at Wall High School, and we feel his best basketball is ahead of him. He is a coach's kid and has a blue-collar work ethic that fits with the values of our program. We feel with his skill set and length that he can find success on both ends of the floor for us. Jacob has a tremendous upside and we know our fans will love seeing him in the blue and gold."
Austin Skopal | 6'3 | Rouse High School
Skopal earned a first-team All-District nod his senior season in District 25-5A. His team finished the season 24-11, as the district runners-up and bi-district finalists.
Patel has high praise for the incoming freshman from Rouse, "Austin played for a former Ram basketball player, Shane Krause, at Rouse High School. He is a lefty that can really shoot the basketball and help stretch the floor. He comes from a family of athletes and understands what it takes to be a collegiate student-athlete. We believe he earned valuable experience playing in a competitive district and his potential is sky high. We are thrilled to see how he progresses in our program at ASU."
