#25 Rambelles Travel to UTPB, Host #1 DBU in Match Week Six

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Following a week with two more wins and two more shutouts, the Angelo State women's soccer team looks forward to two more conference matches, traveling to UT Permian Basin on Wednesday, Sept. 28th before coming home for an exciting matchup with DBU on Saturday, Oct. 1st.

NEED TO KNOW
  • ASU opens the season unbeaten through the first ten games in 2022, matching their longest stretch unbeaten at ten matches.
  • Sophomore Grace Jordan scored her fifth and sixth goals of the season last week, bringing her total to six goals. Jordan currently ranks fifth in the Lone Star Conference in both goals (6) and points (13) and first in game-winning goals (5).
  • Cindy Rodriguez and Valerie Solis each have three assists, leading the team.
  • Katelin Heise earned an assist on both of Jordan's goals last week, she now has six points on the year with two goals to go along with her two assists.
  • Kira Miller earned her sixth and seventh clean sheets of the season against St. Mary's and Eastern New Mexico. The grad student now has 35 career clean sheets.
  • Miller, the reigning Lone Star Conference goalkeeper of the year, has 25 saves ten games into the season, she needs 30 saves to break the all-time saves record at Angelo State after making six during the match week five. She already holds the Belles all-time shutouts (35) and wins (52) titles.
  • Miller and backline staple Cassidy Hill were announced as LSC preseason Goalkeeper and Defender of the year, both for the second consecutive season.
  • Hill and Miller have each played all 900 minutes of the 2022 season.
  • Hill was recognized as the LSC Defensive Player of the Week in match week four after shutting out both Texas A&M International and Oklahoma Christian.
  • Miller earned LSC Goalkeeper of the Week honors after a shutout and six saves in match week two against Colorado School of Mines and Regis.
  • Seniors Mia Czarnecki and Hill were announced as captains for the 2022 campaign.
  • ASU returns 19 of 28 letterwinners from the 2021 season which saw them advance to the second round of the NCAA DII National Tournament.
  • The Belles have outscored their opponents 18-4 through ten games, averaging 1.80 goals per contest, only allowing opponents 0.40.
  • Head Coach Travis McCorkle enters his 15th season at the helm of the Belles program, looking to add more hardware following the team's second consecutive LSC Tournament Championship.
  • Assistant Coach Harold Muñoz enters his sixth season with the Belles, and Avery McNeme enters the coaching ranks as the Belles graduate assistant following five years on the pitch.
 
ANGELO STATE at. UT PERMIAN BASIN
  • The Belles hold an 18-2-2 all-time record against UTPB, including 13 straight victories, dating back to the 2010 season.
  • The last time the teams played was in San Angelo in 2021 where the Belles routed the Falcons with a 5-0 victory. Jordan and Hill both scored in the contest for ASU.
  • The Falcons are currently 2-4-1 on the season and 0-3-0 in LSC action.
  • UTPB has lost its last four matches, most recently dropping to #10 West Texas A&M, 4-0.
  • Kaylee Overmyer has scored five of the Falcons eight goals in 2022, leading the team with ten points.
  • UT Permian Basin was selected 12th in the LSC Preseason Poll, receiving 77 points after finishing 1-12 in the conference last season.
 
ANGELO STATE vs. DBU
  • The Belles hold a slight edge all-time against the Patriots, 7-4-0.
  • The teams met three times in 2022, with DBU winning two of the three contests, all took place at the Patriots Soccer Field in Dallas.  
  • During the conference season, DBU won a tightly contested match 2-1.
  • The Belles would take the next match in the Lone Star Conference Tournament final, 1-0 to secure their spot in the NCAA Tournament.
  • DBU would have the last laugh as they beat the Belles 3-2 in an exhilarating second-round NCAA tournament match which helped propel the Patriots to a final four appearance.
  • Following the season DBU head coach Michelle Lenard accepted a position at Baylor University as their head coach, bringing three players with her, Ashley Merrill, Blythe Obar, and Jenna Patterson.
  • DBU has not skipped a beat under new head coach Marcus Wood as the Patriots are also unbeaten and currently hold the number one ranking in DII women's soccer.
  • Annie Severide leads the Patriots with ten points, four goals and two assists.
  • Adrianna Schroeder has been the number one between the sticks, currently with 22 saves and three shutouts (two individual, one combined) on the year.
  • The Patriots were selected as the favorites to win the LSC following their trip to the final four last season.
