Boston, Mass. – Angelo State men's basketball head coach Vinay Patel was named the HoopDirt.Com Division II National Coach of the Week, presented by Just Play Solutions, the organization announced this morning.

Patel led the Rams to a pair of home wins this past weekend over St. Mary's and St. Edward's. Against the Rattlers, the Rams shot 58.7 percent from the field and 56.7 percent from three as they scored 111 points, the most against a Division II program since 2015.

Against the Hilltoppers, the Rams knocked down five clutch free throws in the game's final two minutes to seal a 69-64 victory over St. Edward's.

The Rams are 14-5 on the season and 9-4 in LSC play; they are 21-0 inside the Junell Center – Stephens Arena under Patel's leadership.

The Rams are on the road this weekend to take on Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico.
