LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lone Star Conference has announced the all-conference teams and special awards for the 2024 baseball season. The No. 13 Rams had seven players receive All-Conference honors including four being named to the first team.
Tripp Clark headlines the Rams' selections after he was named to his second straight LSC first team honor as he leads the conference in batting average (.439), slugging percentage (.794), OPS (1.312) and RBI (79) while being ranked in the top 10 in numerous other offensive categories including hits, home runs and on base percentage.
Jacob Guerrero joins his teammate as the other Ram to earn first team honors for the second year in a row. The junior from Colleyville was named NCBWA National Player of the Week honors on March 20 and currently leads the LSC in stolen bases while hitting .374 with 20 doubles and 59 RBI. Guerrero was also named to the conference All-Academic team which is chosen by the league's sports information directors. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have played in at least 50 percent of the team's contests, reached sophomore athletic and academic standing, completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution, and have a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade point average based on the 4.0 system for their entire collegiate career.
Dax Dathe and
Caleb Heuertz completed ASU's first team selections from the bump. Dathe leads the conference in strikeouts (95) while holding a 4.24 ERA which is enough for second best in the LSC. Heuertz is the only relief pitcher to be named to the first team as he boasts a 2.70 ERA and has collected a team-high six saves in 19 appearances.
Alezeah Gutierrez and
Braxton Pearson represent the blue and gold on the all-conference second team list. Gutierrez sits fifth in the conference with a 4.59 ERA while striking out 65 in 66.2 innings of work. Pearson holds a 5-1 record with a 3.12 ERA in nine starts.
Conagher Sands rounded out the Rams' awards as he was named to the conference's third team as a designated hitter. The senior from Bakersfield, Calif. holds onto a .347 batting average and most recently had a five-RBI performance in game two against Texas A&M International to send the Rams to the final round of the LSC Tournament.
