SAN ANGELO – Angelo State men's basketball head coach
Vinay Patel announces his third transfer addition of the summer in Phil Dotson. Dotson, a combo guard from Memphis, Tennessee, comes to Angelo State from Division III school Rhodes College.
Dotson, a 6-foot-tall combo guard, averaged 22.3 points per game and 4.3 assists for the Lynx last season while shooting 36 percent from three-point range. He scored a career-high 44 points on 17-for-34 shooting from the floor against Oglethorpe on February 4
th this past season.
"We are excited to add Phil to the roster for the upcoming year," said Patel. "He is a dynamic guard that will fit right in with our style of play. Phil does a great job of getting to the paint and making the right play. He has delivered for his past teams in huge moments, and his experience should be valuable for our program."
Dotson was named to the All-SAA First Team last season as he led the Lynx to a Cinderella run through the conference tournament, advancing the Lynx to the finals as the tournament's seventh seed.
"Our entire staff enjoyed getting to know Phil and his family throughout the recruiting process," said Patel. "We are excited he chose to come to Angelo State and can't wait to get him in the Blue and Gold this upcoming year!"
The Rams are coming off a season in which they went 19-11 overall and qualified for the South Central Regional for the second straight season under Patel's leadership.
