No. 2 Rams Baseball Open 2025 Season Against UTPB
SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 2 Angelo State baseball team open the 2025 season at home as the Rams welcome the UT Permian Basin Falcons in a four games series beginning Friday, Jan. 31st.
The Rams are coming off a season where they became the first team since 2007 to appear in the National Championship in back-to-back seasons. The Blue and Gold finished the 2024 campaign with a 44-21 overall record with a 32-16 record in Lone Star Conference play.

FRIDAY FESTIVITIES:
Prior to first pitch on Friday, the Rams will host a Ring Ceremony scheduled to begin at approximately 2:40 p.m. to honor the 2024 National Runner Ups.
Furthermore, beanies will be given away at the gate as fans enter the ballpark on a first-come, first-serve basis, limited to one per fan. Come out early as supplies are limited! Gates will open one hour prior to first pitch.

Last Meeting: May 10, 2024: UTPB, 3-0 – Lubbock
After a 32-1 stretch dating back to 2017, the Rams have dropped the last three contests against the Falcons, most recently in the last season's Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament. Despite this, ASU holds an 18-1 record at home and average 10.72 runs per game against UTPB.
SCOUTING UT PERMIAN BASIN:
UT Permian Basin enter 2025 coming off the program's most successful season since 2015 as the Falcons ended the 2024 season with a 35-25 overall record and a 28-20 LSC record to finish fourth in league play. The Falcons reached the LSC Championship game against Lubbock Christian before falling in 12 innings. UTPB then reached the South Central Regional where they were eliminated by LCU.
CONFERENCE FAVORITES:
The Rams were selected as the favorites to take the 2025 LSC crown, earning the top spot in the preseason poll with 483 points, including 29 of the 39 first-place votes. Coming in second was Lubbock Christian followed by West Texas A&M, UT Tyler and St. Edwards to round out the top five.

ASU will begin the season ranked No. 2 by the NCBWA, ABCA and D2 Baseball in their respective preseason polls released this week.
