SAN ANGELO – Angelo State men's basketball head coach Vinay Patel has made his third signing of the summer for the upcoming 2025-26 season in Jhordan Ryan from Iowa Lakes Community College.

Ryan, a 6-foot-7 forward from St. John's, Montserrat, averaged 14 points and 11.2 rebounds per game last season and shot 57.8 percent from the field en route to being named an NJCAA Second Team All-American.

"Jhordy is an incredible player, person, and student. We are fortunate to add a player like him to our program for the upcoming year," said Patel. "He plays with a high motor on both ends of the floor and immediately gives us an inside presence." 

His 11.2 rebounds per game ranked second in the country, and he finished sixth in the country with 2.8 blocks per game.

"Jhordy has the physicality and athleticism to make an immediate impact in the LSC," said Patel." Coach McKinney (Iowa Lakes CC Head Coach) did a great job of preparing Jhordy with the tools to excel at Angelo State." 

Ryan, an ICCAC First Team All-Region selection, competed in the 2025 NJCAA Men's Basketball All-Star Game in May, where he scored nine points, grabbed three rebounds, assisted twice, and recorded a pair of steals while also blocking two shots in limited game time. He was the only player in the game to make all of his field goal attempts.

"Jhordy is a team-first guy, and our staff built a strong relationship with him early in the recruiting process," said Patel. "He has proven to be a consistent and reliable player over his career, and we are excited to get on the court and work with him this fall!"
