McKinnon Named LSC Defensive Player of the Week

RICHARDSON, Texas – For the third consecutive week, a member of the No. 6 Angelo State football team has earned Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors. Junior defensive back Shamareon "Bobo" McKinnon received the award, the league announced Monday afternoon.

McKinnon, an interdisciplinary studies major from Dillon, South Carolina, delivered a standout performance in the Rams' 56-27 win over Western New Mexico. He returned an interception 51 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, extending Angelo State's streak to 19 straight games with a pick. In the third quarter, he added a forced fumble and recovery, finishing the game with three solo tackles.

Angelo State is on a bye this week and will return to action Saturday, Oct. 4, when it hosts UT Permian Basin at 1st Community Credit Union Field at LeGrand Stadium.
