Ireland Ferguson the conference's Defensive Player of the Week following her performances in the Belles' conference-opening matches.
The senior from Venice, Florida, earns the first on-court accolade of her collegiate career.
Ferguson anchored the Belles' defense to hold St. Mary's and St. Edward's to a combined .052 attack percentage as the Belles won their first two conference matches.
Against St. Mary's, the Marketing student recorded her second-career double-double, recording 12 assists and 12 digs.
The following day against St. Edward's, she recorded 21 digs. She had an ace in both matches this weekend.
Ferguson is averaging 4.17 digs per set this season, 11
th in the league.
Ferguson and the Belles are 8-5 on the season and 2-0 in LSC play. They are on the road this weekend, taking on Oklahoma Christian and Cameron.
