RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference released their weekly accolades on Monday afternoon with Rams'
Demetrias Charles notching Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Charles, a management major from Channelview, Texas, had two interceptions on consecutive drives in the first quarter of Saturday's 41-20 win over Emporia State. He returned the first pick 21 yards for a touchdown to give the Rams a 13-0 lead, then set up another score with his second interception, helping ASU build a 20-0 advantage less than five minutes into the game.
The defensive back also recorded a team-high six tackles as No. 10-ranked Angelo State improved to 2-0.
The Blue and Gold are back on the road this weekend when they travel to Portales, N.M. to face Eastern New Mexico with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. on Sept. 13.
