GOLDEN, Colorado – With the 2026 season set to begin in less than five days, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA) released its annual Regional Preseason Polls on Monday, which slotted the Angelo State baseball team to finish in third place.
The Rams earned 63 points while collecting a first-place vote. UT Tyler (77 points, 5 first-place votes) and Colorado Mesa (69, 2) were picked to finish first and second, respectively.
St. Edward's, Lubbock Christian, West Texas A&M, St. Mary's and Texas A&M-Kingsville filling the top ten with UT Permian Basin receiving some votes to round out the Lone Star Conference representation.
Last season, ASU accumulated a 48-10 overall record and went 39-7 in Lone Star Conference play on the way to capturing the LSC Regular Season and Tournament Titles before falling to UT Tyler in the South Central Super Regional.
The Rams will open the 2026 season on the road with a three-game series against UT Permian Basin beginning on Friday, Jan. 30, with the first pitch scheduled at 2 p.m.
