Jhordan Ryan Named LSC Defensive Player of the Week

Richardson, Texas – Angelo State junior forward Jhordan Ryan has been named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week following his two performances last week against Western New Mexico and Sul Ross State, the conference announced this afternoon.

Ryan's defensive efforts helped the Rams hold the Mustangs and Lobos to a combined 33.9 field goal percentage, averaging 51.5 points per game.

The Kinesiology student averaged 17 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game last week.

The Montserratian had 14 points, eight rebounds, a block, and three steals against Western New Mexico as the Rams held the Mustangs, who are receiving votes in the NABC Division II Top 25, to a season-low 52 points on 30 percent shooting from the field.

Against Sul Ross, Ryan scored 20 points, his most at Angelo State, while grabbing 11 rebounds; on defense, he blocked a pair of shots and nabbed two steals.

Since being inserted into the starting lineup, Ryan has recorded six double-doubles in eight games, averaging 14.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.

Ryan is the fourth Ram to earn an LSC player of the week award this season and the first since November 18th. This is Ryan's first weekly honor at Angelo State.

Ryan and the Rams are on the road this weekend as they take on St. Edward's and St. Mary's.
