GOLDEN, Colo. – Postseason honors continued to roll in for the Angelo State baseball team as
Austin Beck,
Garrett Baumann and
Chase Pendley earned South Central Regional recognition from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the organization announced Friday.
Beck, a redshirt senior from Allen, Texas, earned second-team honors while earning a spot for the third time in his career. The MBA student ranks among the national leaders in doubles (20) and stolen bases (48) while sitting second on the team in OPS (1.011), runs scored (68) and hits (72). Earlier this season, Beck became the first player in NCAA Division II history to surpass 300 career runs scored and was also named First Team All-Lone Star Conference.
Baumann, a senior from Poth, Texas, was also selected to the second team following a standout campaign on the mound. The Interdisciplinary Studies major owns a 10-5 record with a 3.51 ERA across 24 appearances. Over 66.2 innings pitched, Baumann leads the Rams with 70 strikeouts while limiting opposing hitters to a .247 batting average.
Pendley, a redshirt senior from Prosper, Texas, received honorable mention recognition. He was the only player to appear on multiple ballots without earning a spot on either of the two all-region teams. Pendley leads Angelo State with 75 hits while batting .336 with 60 RBIs. Earlier this postseason, he earned First Team All-Lone Star Conference and LSC All-Defensive Team honors after committing just two errors in his first season as the Rams' full-time first baseman.
