SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball team will travel on the road for a Lone Star Conference match-up with Cameron University Wednesday night in the Aggie Gym with tip-off slated for 6 p.m.

The Belles (3-4, 1-0 LSC) are coming off a 2-0 week in which they beat the reigning LSC Tournament champion Texas Woman's, 67-48, last Wednesday and avenged an earlier loss this season to St. Mary's by pulling out a 55-54 victory over the Lady Rattlers last Saturday.

The Belles held the Pioneers and the Lady Rattlers to a .336 field-goal percentage in their two wins while holding a 10-point scoring margin over their opponents. ASU shot a season-high 46 percent against TWU to help earn its first LSC win of the season.

Defense has been the main key for the Belles this season, allowing opponents to score only 61.0 points per contest, third in the conference. ASU is also tied for second in the LSC with 21 total blocked shots.

ASU has been boosted by the return of senior Paige Weishuhn and the play of freshmen Haylee Oliver. Weishuhn, the Belles leading scorer and rebounder at 15.4 points and 7.2 boards per game, had 28 total points in the two wins last week and grabbed 8.5 rebounds per contest after missing the two previous games because of injury.

Oliver averaged 13 points per game during the seven-day stretch, including a career-high of 14 versus TWU. The San Saba native shot .529 percent from the field, including a sizzling .800 from behind the three-point line in the Belles' two victories.

Angelo State holds a 23-17 all-time series advantage over the Aggies, including last season's 66-34 lopsided victory at Cameron. The 34 points was the lowest total scored by an Belles' opponent all of last season and the fewest since allowing only 26 versus St. Edward's in 2008.

Cameron (3-2, 1-1 LSC) is coached by Tom Webb and is led in scoring by senior forward Julie Paunovic at 15.4 points per game. Last week the Aggies split their two contests with LSC foes losing 71-59 at Tarleton State before rebounding to win against Texas A&M-Commerce, 68-52, in Cameron.
