GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Angelo State University women's basketball program adds a couple more accolades to its 2025-26 season after
Majik Esquivel and Taylor Grona were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team as announced by the organization on Wednesday.
Esquivel, a Commercial Aviation student from Lubbock, Texas, led the Rambelles in scoring at 17.2 points per game — the second-highest average in the Lone Star Conference. The sophomore was named Second Team All-South Central Region by the D2CCA on Mar. 12 and First Team All-LSC back on Mar. 4. She shot 40.3% from the field and 31.4% from 3-point range. She also totaled 93 rebounds and 49 steals.
Grona, a sophomore majoring in Animal Science, started all 27 games for the Belles while averaging 10.2 points per game on 35.3% shooting from the field. The Fredericksburg native led the team with 73 assists and 50 steals while finishing second with 137 rebounds.
To qualify for the CSC Academic All-District team, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. They must be a sophomore academically and athletically, and must have played in 90 percent of the institution's matches or started in 66 percent of the institution's matches.
