The Series
Angelo State and Northeastern State are meeting for the 25th time in program history and the Rams hold a 16-8 advantage in the all-time series. Last season the RiverHawks defeated ASU three times in the four-game series. It was the first time Northeastern State ever won a series with Angelo State. In 2009 Angelo State swept Northeastern State in a four-game series at Foster Field in San Angelo.

The Coaches
Angelo State:
Kevin Brooks (Baylor, 1994) has been the head baseball coach of the Angelo State Rams since the program's inception in 2005. During his tenure at Angelo State, Brooks has compiled a 257-141 (.646) overall record which includes the LSC South Division title in 2006, the LSC and NCAA Division II South Central Regional titles in 2007, and a semifinal appearance in the 2009 South Central Regional tournament. Brooks' 2007 squad won the regional championship for the first time in school history, enabling ASU to make its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II College World Series. He has coached 54 All-Lone Star Conference selections, 14 All-Region picks and seven All-Americans. Brooks has also prepared his players for the next level as 18 former Rams have played or are currently playing professional baseball.

Northeastern State: Sergio Espinal (North Texas, 1989) is in his tenth season at the helm of the Northeastern State baseball program. He has guided the RiverHawks to a 230-270-2 record in his decade as the head coach. Prior to his hiring at Northeastern State, Espinal spent eight years at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo.

The Program
• Angelo State dropped three games to Tarleton State last week as the Rams were swept in a three-game conference series for the first time this season. ASU committed 14 errors as a team in game one setting a new NCAA Division II record. The Rams look to snap a program record eight-game losing streak this weekend at Northeastern State.
• In just its third year of existence, the Angelo State's baseball program reached the NCAA Division II College World Series in 2007 marking the fastest such trip in NCAA history. The 2007 squad won a school record 51 games that season and had three Rams garner All-America honors.
• This season, the Rams look to build on the success built in previous seasons with seventh year head coach Kevin Brooks at the helm. Brooks is assisted by Jerod Goodale, former All-American and former Ram, Drew Caraway, Rex Scofield and student assistant Michel Robles.

This Week's Opponent
Northeastern State is riding a six-game losing streak and has a 3-23 overall record. The RiverHawks are 2-19 in the Lone Star Conference as they sit in last place in the standings. NSU's only two conference wins came at East Central on March 11 and 12. The RiverHawks opened the 2011 season with a 16-game losing streak prior to earning back to back victories over ECU. Their third and only non-conference win came at the hands of Rogers State in a 4-3 win on March 16. The RiverHawks are led by Noah Ringenberger, a sophomore outfielder, who also doubles as a left-handed pitcher. Ringenberger leads the team in almost every offensive category as he owns a team-best .396 batting average, 23 runs, 38 hits and six doubles. Ringenberger also has 10 RBIs, 17 walks and five stolen bases in six attempts. On the mound he is 0-2 with a pair saves.
