CANYON, Texas – Postseason recognition continued for the Angelo State baseball team Monday as
Austin Beck and
Brett Smajstrla were named Second Team All-South Central Region by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).
Beck, a redshirt senior pursuing his MBA, notches his second regional award after being awarded the honor by the NCBWA earlier this month. The Allen, Texas, native finished the 2026 season with a .339 batting average, a .449 on-base percentage and a .560 slugging percentage for a 1.009 OPS.
The Rams' second baseman ranked among the national leaders in stolen bases (50) and doubles (20) while tallying 30 extra-base hits, including two triples and eight home runs. Beck also drove in 62 runs during the season and scored 69 times himself, becoming the first player in DII history to eclipse 300 runs scored in a career.
Smajstrla, a redshirt junior majoring in mechanical engineering, posted a .328/.434/.561 slash line to finish with a .995 OPS. The Pearland, Texas, native collected 24 extra-base hits, including 11 doubles, six triples and seven home runs, while driving in 51 RBIs and scoring 57 runs. He also added 19 stolen bases during the season.
Earlier this postseason, Smajstrla earned Second Team All-Lone Star Conference honors as a designated hitter.
