Belles Continue Road Trip with Western New Mexico

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team will continue its road trip in Silver City, N.M. as the Belles take on Western New Mexico at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.

The Belles are 5-3 overall after winning its third-straight game on Monday night. ASU defeated UTPB 71-64 with four Belles scoring in double figures. The Belles have a 1-1 record on the road and 4-1 away from the Junell Center.

This will be the second meeting between the two schools. Western New Mexico won the only other contest in January of 1995 with a 98-77 victory.
Western New Mexico is 2-2 on the season. Ashley Mitchell leads the Lady Mustangs at 14.0 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game.

ASU is hitting 46.6-percent of its shots during the three-game winning streak and has limited teams to 35.8 percent from the field. The Belles are hitting 39.4-percent form the field on the season and 30.8-percent of their three pointers. Overall, the Belles average 60.0 points per game and hold opponents to 55.0 points per game.

Amanda Weaver has led the Belles at 13.7 points per game during the win streak including 18 against Incarnate Word and 14 versus UTPB. She has made 10-of-16 three pointers during the streak.

Hillari Adam (12.3) and Rochelle Norris (10.7) have helped on the scoring end in the last three games. Norris has scored in double figures in four-straight games while Adam is leading the team in overall scoring average of 14.1 points per game this season.

Karli Kellermeier scored 11 in the win over UTPB and has averaged 7.8 points per game this season. Leah LeMaire has increased her scoring average of 7.3 points per game during the season to 8.3 in the last three games.

The Belles defense has stepped up limiting teams to a .358 shooting percentage and force 17.9 turnovers per game. The scoring defense is No. 13 in the nation and No. 1 in the Lone Star Conference scoring 53.7 points per game.

The Belles next game will be on Tues., Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. against Schreiner at Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.
