Belles Face Final Road Test Against Texas A&M-Kingsville

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball team will try to extend its win streak to five games on Wednesday as they travel to Texas A&M-Kingsville for a 6 p.m. tip-off.

The Belles are 12-12 on the season and 9-9 in the LSC after defeated TWU this past Saturday 58-52. It is the first time the Belles have won four-straight since 2011. The last time Angelo State has won five-straight games was in 2008.

The defense has been one of the main reasons for the win streak. The Belles are holding opponent to 9.4 points less and teams are shooting only 27.6-percent shooting. Opponents have been shooting 35-.7 percent from the field.

The rebounding has continued to be a strong point. The Belles grab 5.7 rebounds per game on average but it has increased to a 10.8 margin. ASU is also upped the average rebounds per game by 5.0.

Lauren Holt has increased her scoring average of late to 15.5 over the last four games. Senior Morgan Youngblood is scoring 10.8 points per game which is 5.1 points more per game than her season average of 5.7.

The last game against these two schools was a 65-51 win for the Belles. Lauren Holt had a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. The Belles lead the overall series 39-26 and last won in Kingsville 2011.

The game will be carried locally on KKSA 1260AM with Jeremy Bryant on the call.
