Belles Come Home to Play Midwestern State

The Angelo State women's basketball team host Midwestern State at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center for a Lone Star Conference matchup.

The Belles are currently tied for fourth place in the Lone Star Conference with a 3-3 record in league play. Overall, Angelo State is 9-7 and has a record of 2-3 in its last five games and is averaging 58.9 points per game this season. ASU is No. 10 nationally and No. 1 in the LSC in scoring defense at 57.3 points per game. The Belle defense is also No. 2 in the league in field-goal percentage defense at 36.7-percen and is aided by the 9.4 steals per game and 17.1 turnovers forced.

While at home at Stephens Arena, the Belles increase their scoring to 60.3 points per game on 38-percent shooting from the field. ASU records more assist at home 13.7 compared to 12.1 per game and force more turnovers at 18.1 per game. The Belles are also outscoring opponents 208-177 in the first half at home.

After winning two of their first three conference games, the Belles have dropped the last two. In conference matchups, ASU is averaging 58.2 points per game and hitting 36.3-percnet from the field. The Belles are 7-2 this year when recording at least 10 steals with the two losses coming against West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico.

Midwestern State comes in with a record of 10-7 overall and a 2-4 in league play. The Mustangs have dropped their last two games and are 3-5 on the road.

Three Mustangs average double figures with Andrea Carter leading the way at 13.9 points per game. Carter also averages 8.6 rebounds per game. Kirsti Degelia is scoring 10.8 per game and Dianna Jones averages 10.4 per game. As a team, MSU is shitting 42.7-percent from the field and scoring 69.6 points per game.

The Belles hold a 28-26 series advantage with the Mustangs. ASU has won nine of the last 10 meetings at home against Midwestern State. Both teams won on the road against each other and MSU's win last year's in San Angelo was the first win at the Junell Center for the Mustangs.

Rochelle Norris, who is third on the team is scoring at 8.9 per game, has been the Belles most consistent scorer over the last four games. The Dallas native scored 11 points against ENMU and it is her fourth-straight game to score in double figures. She leads the team scoring in double digits in 10 games this season.

Hillari Adam scored six points against Eastern New Mexico after missing the previous two games due to injury. The junior is the Belles leading scorer at 13.8 points per game and the top rebounder at 6.7 per game. The Wall native has scored in double figures nine times this season. Adam is eighth in the LSC in scoring and fifth in rebounding.

Amanda Weaver is third in the LSC in three-point percentage made at 41.1-percent. She is scoring 8.9 points per game and has hit 30 three pointers this season. The next closest Belle to Weaver in three pointers made is Kayla Turner at 17. Turner is scoring 6.0 points per game. The junior scored a season high 19 points against Texas A&M-Commerce.

Leah LeMaire is scoring 6.8 points per game and is fourth on the team in scoring. The Corpus Christi native has recorded double digit points in three games this season and grabs 4.5 rebounds per game. LeMaire is second on the team in steals with 22.

Karli Kellermeier is fifth on the team scoring 6.3 points per game. The Wall native is the team leader in steals with 26 and she is second on the team in rebounds 5.8 per game.

Tati Haynes has seen her production increase over the last few games. The senior scored a game high 11 points against Eastern New Mexico.  Her average of 6.8 per game over the last five games is a significant increase over her season average of 3.9 points per game.

Haylee Oliver grabbed a season-high seven rebounds against ENMU. The junior leads the Belles with 48 assists on the season and is averaging 3.2 points per game.

Michelle Rosewell, who has started the last three games, is scoring 2.6 points per game. The Grapevine native has 34 assists and averages 17.4 minutes per game.
