SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 23 Angelo State volleyball team was selected as the No. 1 seed and will host the NCAA DII South Central Regional Tournament for the first time in program history starting on Thursday, Dec. 3.

The 2015 South Central Regional tournament will mark a program-record fifth consecutive time for the Belles. ASU has made eight total NCAA DII regional tournament appearances prior to this year. The Belles finished with a 31-5 record and maintained its No. 1 ranking in the region after winning the LSC Tournament Championship.

"Playing at home is always a big advantage," said ASU Head Volleyball Coach Chuck Waddington. "You get to play in front of your home crowd, you get to sleep in your own bed, you get to stick to your daily routine and that makes a big difference over living out of a suitcase for a couple of days. It's nice to be able to handle all your business at home and it makes it easier on our players."

The tournament will begin on Thursday, December 3 and the final will be held on Saturday, December 5. Match times and ticket prices will be announced after Thanksgiving.

"This will be the first time in the history of the program that we have gotten to host a regional and I hope we can get fans out there to support us," added Waddington. "We have had some great support in the past, but we need to double our efforts and get as many people in the stands as possible."
