Ram Baseball Travels to Southeastern Oklahoma State

SAN ANGLEO, Texas – The No. 13 Angelo State baseball team travels to Southeastern Oklahoma State, in Durrant, Oklahoma, for a three game series that begins on Friday, Feb. 12 at 12 p.m.  

The Rams will get things started with a doubleheader on Friday at 12 p.m. and follow it up with the final game of the series on Sunday with a first pitch time of 12 p.m. The last time the two teams met, the Rams took two out of the three games (18-8, 5-3, 14-15) in the series which was played at Foster Field. SEOSU is coming off a 10 inning, 14-13, home win over Oklahoma Christian University and is sitting at 3-3 on the season. Both teams have a series with Texas A&M International in common with the Rams sweeping the Dustdevils and the Savage Storm taking two of three. 

Senior pitcher Bryce Zak will make his return to the mound for the Rams for game one of the series. Zak pitched six solid innings last week against TAMIU only giving up two runs off of three hits. He sat eight back down in the dugout and walked only two in the win. The San Angelo native is currently holding a 3.00 ERA for the season. Graylon Brown and Matt Shannon also had strong performances from the hill against the Dustdevils. Brown struck out six in six scoreless innings and only gave up four hits.In the third game of the series, Shannon tossed seven strike outs in six innings and only gave up only three hits.  

As a team, the Rams are currently hitting .255 with a .351 slugging percentage. Steven Pinales and Paxton DeLaGarza both lead the offensive attack with four RBIs each. Pinales has hit the teams only triple and home run thus far this season and was a double short of hitting for the cycle in the first game of the year. The newcomer also leads the team with a .667 batting average, .778 on base percentage and a 1.500 slugging percentage. DeLaGarza is .417 at the plate, with a .500 on base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage. The veteran All-American went 5-for-12 last week against TAMIU, stroking three doubles. Both players also recorded a stolen base during the opening series.

Sam Kohler and David Goggin also made their presence known at the dish as both recorded four hits during last weekend's series. Kohler, who finished the weekend with a .444 hitting percentage at the plate, went a perfect 3-for-3 in the second game of the series and finished 4-for -9 overall. He has crossed the plate a team first six times this season. Goggin is currently sporting a .333 hitting average and has tallied a team second two RBIs on the season.

Around the bases Elias Aguirre showed his wheels stealing a team high two bases. He is carrying a .444 on base percentage. Christian Abilla, Michael Urquidi, Tyler Coolbaugh, Nathan Ruane and Matt Waller also all earned a RBIs during the series.  

Game two of the series will be broadcasted live on 1260AM KKSA with the voice of Rams baseball, Jeremy Bryant, on the call.
