Belles Face Road Tests at Cameron and Midwestern State

SAN ANGELO ­– The Angelo State women's basketball team will hit the road to face Cameron in Lawton, Oklahoma on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m. and Midwestern State in Wichita Falls on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. in a pair of Lone Star Conference games.

The Belles have won six straight to improve to 14-4 and sit second in the Lone Star Conference at 9-3. ASU leads the league in scoring (72.5) and blocked shots (4.78). Angelo State will try and take the season series from Cameron after winning 84-70 at the Junell Center and hope to avenge a 73-64 loss to Midwestern State on Saturday.

ASU has six players scoring at least nine points per game and five are in double figures. Three of the six are averaging 12 or more points per game while three are rebounding at least seven per game.

Marquita Daniels and De'Anira Moore each average 12.4 points per game. Daniels adds 3.5 steals per game while Moore grabs 8.8 rebounds and is one of the top shot blockers in the nation with 2.9 per game. Daniels has recorded double figures in eight of her last nine games. Moore had a 10 point nine rebound performance in her last outing and hopes to duplicate her 21 point performance she had versus Cameron the first time. Daniels leads the team in steals with 61 and assists at 58.

Dezirae Hampton is scoring 12.1 points per game on the season with 7.3 rebounds. She has scored in double figures in 12 straight games. The junior had 12 points and nine rebounds versus Cameron in December and another nine rebounds against Midwestern State.

Ekiya Gray is averaging 11.2 points per game with seven games in double figures. She has two double-doubles on the season and grabs 8.7 rebounds per game. The senior is making 49.4 percent from the field. This will be the first time Cameron and Midwestern State will face Gray.

Madi Greenwood is second on the team in 3-pointers with 24 while scoring 10.0 points per game. She is second on the team in assists with 42 on the year and has made 12 steals. The senior scored 13 points, 12 points via the 3-point line, versus Midwestern State and was limited to two points against Cameron.

Keanna Kelly is scoring right under 10 points per game at 9.5 points per game. She leads the team in 3-pointers with 31 and has made at least one in six of the last seven games. The senior scored 16 versus Cameron with 12 points made from behind the arc. The Mansfield native also has added 32 assists and 18 steals on the year.

The bench has provided depth with Kynese Davis, Mikayla Blount, Dearria Watson and Aaliyah Warren. Davis has scored 3.0 points per game and is third on the team in assists with 38 on the year. Blount has made 12 three pointers on the season while averaging 3.8 points per game. Warren has scored in two of the last three game while Watson and provided minutes in nine games this season.
