SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team will begin its 2018-19 home schedule this weekend against Jarvis Christian College and St. Edward's on Friday and Saturday, respectively, with both games starting at 7 p.m.
The Rams had a perfect start to their season last weekend, going 2-0 with wins against the University of the Southwest and UC-Colorado Springs at the Tarleton Classic.
Newcomer and Sam Houston State transfer Josh Boutte led the Rams in the opening weekend wins, leading the Lone Star Conference in both scoring and rebounding average so far. He averaged 22.5 points per game and 12 boards a game as well.
As a team, Angelo State leads the LSC in both rebounding margin and offensive rebounds. They are out-rebounding opponents by 11 boards a game and grabbing an average of 19 rebounds a game just on offense.
Two other ASU players came through the first weekend with double-digit scoring averages in Ronald Bell and Daron Mims. Bell got 19.5 points per game in the Tarleton Classic, while Mims averaged 13Â points per contest.
