SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team (6-1) will look to continue their winning ways this week as they travel to Florida to participate in the Daytona Hoops Classic.

The Belles have been led by senior guard Marquita Daniels, who is averaging 16.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, four assists, and 4.3 steals per contest. She leads the team in points, assists, and steals. Senior guard Dezirae Hampton, the reigning Lone Star Conference offensive player of the week, has been excellent as well, averaging 14.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest. She averages over two steals per contest and leads the team in three point percentage at .359.

Junior center De'Anira Moore has been a force down low and has posted double figure rebounds in three straight contests. For the season, she is averaging 14.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game and leads the team in total blocks with six. She is currently shooting 51 percent from the field and 63 percent from the free throw line while leading the team in attempts.

Senior transfer Maria Delgado has been excellent as well, averaging 9.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. She is also shooting 34 percent from the three point line and averages one steal per contest. Delgado also shoots 73 percent from the free throw line, which ranks third on the team.

Junior guards Asia Davis and Catara Samuel have been integral to the team this season. Davis is averaging 7.6 points and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 83 percent from the free throw line, which leads the team. Samuel averages 6.1 points and 2.9 rebounds on the year.

The Belles' opponent on Tuesday, Urbana (Ohio) is 1-7 on the season with their only win coming at home against Wheeling Jesuit. They average 70 points and 8.3 steals per contest.

The Belles will take on Montana State-Billings on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets are 3-3 on the season and average just under 70 points per contest. They shoot 80 percent from the free throw line and have forced their opponents into more than 16 turnovers per game.
