SAN ANGELO – The No. 50 Anglo Sate tennis team will finish its first spring season of play since 1984 this weekend, taking on Southern Nazaren on Friday before facing Central Oklahoma on Saturday.
The Belles are currently 14-7 with a  3-3 record in Lone Star Conference play. They are also ranked No. 50 in all of Division II women's tennis.
ASU's No. 1 one player, Ena Ovcina, was also ranked by the ITA in singles play, checking in at No. 73 in the country. Ovcina has played exclusively on court one this season in singles play, where she is 13-7 overall.
She has also played on court one in doubles, partnering with Maria Delgadillo. The pairing has a 10-11 record for the season.
For Delgadillo in singles play, the Mexico City native has mainly seen time on court two. She has posted a 15-5 in singles overall which is second best on the team.
The player with the best record in singles play this season is Zoë Gubbels who is currently sitting at 16-4. Gubbels had a streak of 13 straight wins at one point during the season, but had it cut short this past weekend against Texas A&M-Kingsville. She is 9-1 in her last 10 singles matches.
In doubles, Gubbels has played on court two, most recently pairing with Virginie Becht. The pair have played five matches together this season and have won all five.
Becht has also played well in singles this season with a 13-7 overall record. She has split time on courts four, five and six throughout the year.
On court three doubles, Angelo State has used the pairing of Yasmine Ansari and Lucie Maitrot. The two have gone 2-2 as a pair and been successful individually as well.
Both have gone 7-3 in their last 10 matches, while Maitrot is 14-6 overall and Ansari is 12-7.
ASU has also gotten help from Melanie Dreux, who is 6-1 in singles play this season.
