SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team (12-2, 7-1 Lone Star Conference) will look to maintain their conference lead this weekend as they take on Cameron and Midwestern State at home.
The Belles are led by Marquita Daniels, who is averaging 15.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 3.5 steals per contest. De'Anira Moore and Dezirae Hampton also average double figures in points with 14.4 and 13.7 respectively. Moore leads the team in rebounds per game with 7.7 and Hampton is right behind her at 6.8. Hampton also ranks second on the team in both total assists and total steals and shoots 40 percent from the three point line.
Asia Davis, Maria Delgado, Catara Samuel, Essence Johnson, and Mikayla Blount have also all been key contributors to the team this season. Davis is averaging 9.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while leading the team from the free throw line at 83 percent. Delgado averages 8.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 35 percent from three point range. Samuel is averaging six points and 2.9 rebounds per game and is third on the team in total steals. Despite playing just 12 minutes per game, Johnson is incredibly productive, averaging 5.1 points and four rebounds while shooting 66 percent from the field. Blount is averaging 4.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest while shooting 40 percent from the three point line.
As a team, the Belles average 76.2 points per game while giving up just 58.3, a scoring differential of almost 18 points.
Cameron comes into Thursday's contest with a record of 6-10 (3-5 LSC). They have won just one game on the road this season.
Midwestern State comes into Saturday's contest with a record of 6-9 (3-5 LSC). They have also won a single game away from home this year.
