SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team improved to 9-1 (4-0 Lone Star Conference) with a dominant 84-61 victory over the visiting Texas Woman's Pioneers Thursday evening.
The Belles were paced by four players in double figures, led by Marquita Daniels, who had 19 points, five rebounds, four assists, and five steals. Dezirae Hampton and Essence Johnson each posted 18 points on the evening. Hampton added four rebounds, three assists, and four steals while Johnson had an outstanding day from the field, making seven of eight field goals and two of three three pointers.
Asia Davis rounded out the double figure scoring with 13 points and was 6-6 from the free throw line. She added two rebounds and three assists.
As a team, the Belles shot 44 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line while holding TWU to 39 percent.
The Belles will be in action again next Thursday as they battle Eastern New Mexico in the Junell Center.
