SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team (18-7, 11-5 Lone Star Conference) will look to finish strong this weekend against Midwestern State and Cameron. Depending on the results in Texas A&M Commerce's games this weekend, the Rams could move up to second place in the Lone Star Conference heading into the conference tournament next week in Frisco, Texas
The Rams have been led by Antonio Singleton, who is averaging 13.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. He is shooting 42 percent from the three point line, which leads the team by a significant margin. Three other players average double figures, including Ronald Bell, Daron Mims, and Kiair Crouch. Bell is averaging 13 points and a team leading 7.2 rebounds per contest. Mims is averaging 10.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per contest, while Crouch averages 10.1 points per contest while shooting 36 percent from behind the three point line.
Other strong contributors include Josh Boutte, James Kirksey, Collin Turner, Paul Williams, Marcel Pettway, and Valentine Sangoyomi. Boutte is averaging 7.5 points per game and ranks second on the team at 7.1 rebounds per contest. Kirksey has been the Rams' best all around player all season, averaging 7.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and two steals per contest. Turner is coming off a career and season high 19 point performance against UT Permian Basin. On the year, he is averaging seven points and 2.2 rebounds per contest while shooting 37 percent from three point range. Williams is averaging 6.2 points per game and ranks second on the team in total steals with 26. Pettway averages 4.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while providing a true presence on the defensive end of the floor. Sangoyomi averages 3.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest while being a big presence down low on both ends of the court.
On the season, the Rams are outscoring their opponents by 7.8 points per game while outrebounding them by 8.2 boards per contest. They also average 7.9 steals per game.
