Rambelles Tips Off Against LCU In Lubbock

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Belle basketball team travels to the West Texas Panhandle region to face off against the undefeated Lubbock Christian Chaparrals.
The Belles are 8-3 overall, and 5-2 in conference play. Angelo State is ranked third in their conference divisional pod, following Lubbock Christian in first and West Texas A&M in second. The Belles are ranked eighth in the region, following LCU in first, Texas A&M-Commerce in second, Colorado Mesa in the third spot, West Texas A&M in fourth, Westminster in fifth, and Eastern New Mexico and Fort Lewis tied at the sixth spot.

Series Matchup:
The last time the Belles and the Chaps played each other was on November 11, 2019, where the Chaps came to San Angelo and defeated the Belles, 75-64. The Belles will play for the fourth time in the Rip Griffin Center, the last time playing there for the DII South Central Regional Final Match. Marquita Daniels led the offense against the Chaps with 27 points, while De'Anira Moore and Dezirae Hampton led the Belles defense with Moore grabbing nine rebounds and Hampton grabbing seven.
 
Scouting Lubbock Christian:
The Chaparrals enter the weekend with an undefeated 13-0 overall record and 7-0 conference record. Maddi Chitsey leads the Chaparrals in scoring, averaging 15.1 points a game. Chitsey shoots .493 from the field, .306 from the three point line, and .804 from the free throw line. Chitsey also leads the team defensively, averaging 6.3 rebounds a game, with a total of 82 rebounds, 24 offensive and 58 defensive.
 
Last Time Out:
The Belles played on January 2 and January 4 against the University of Texas-Permian Basin and Western New Mexico. Against UTPB, the Belles defeated the Falcons at home, 74-45. Megan Guadian led the Belles offensively with 21 points, a career high for Guadian, while De'Anira Moore (15), Catara Samuel (12), and Sawyer Lloyd (11) all finished in the double digits. Against Western New Mexico, the Belles picked up another win, 69-50, to start the 2020 part of the season in the win column. Moore led the Belles offensively, scoring 27 points for the Belles and a new career high for Moore, while Samuel scored 18 points for the Belles, as well as a career high seven steals for Samuel.
 
Key Players:
De'Anira Moore leads the Belles offense and ranks fourth for scoring in the conference with a 17.5 points per game average. Moore is shooting 53.3% from the field, and 72.9% from the free throw line. Moore is also leading the Belles on defense in conference, coming in fourth and averaging 8.4 rebounds a game. Moore has registered a total 92 rebounds for the season so far.
Catara Samuel is one of the Belles main offensive players and scorers to watch. Putting up 30 total points against the UTPB Falcons and WNMU Mustangs, Samuel ranks seventh in the conference for her scoring capabilities. Samuel is shooting 38% from the field, and 67% from the free throw line. Samuel also plays a huge role on the Belles defense when it comes to steals, as Samuel registered 10 steals against the Falcons and Mustangs. Samuels quick thinking, judgment, and fast hands puts her third in the conference for steals throughout the season so far.
