Rambelles Fall To ENMU At Home

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Belle basketball team played a well-rounded Eastern New Mexico team and played their hearts out, but unfortunately lost to the Greyhounds, 84-60.
The Belles are now 12-7 overall and 9-6 in conference.
 
In Case You Missed It:
First Quarter
  • Eastern New Mexico started the first quarter off rather quickly as they two quick baskets to gain a 4-0 lead over the Belles, but a jumper from Asia Davis brought the Belles within two points of taking the lead, 4-2.
  • The Greyhounds made another jump shot, jumping ahead to a four point lead, but two free throws from Davis brought the Belles within two points once again, 6-4.
  • A three pointer from Sawyer Lloyd brought the Belles to a one point lead over ENMU, 9-8.
  • A free throw and a layup from the Greyhounds put ENMU ahead of Angelo State by two points, but Catara Samuel knocked down a free throw to cut the lead back down to one, 11-10.
  • ENMU went on a scoring run, knocking down baskets to jump to a 10 point lead over the Belles until another three pointer from Lloyd cut the Greyhounds lead down to seven to end the quarter for Angelo State, 20-13.
Second Quarter
  • A layup from Samantha Rocha started the second quarter off for the Belles, once again cutting ENMU's lead down to seven, 22-15.
  • The Greyhounds defensive capabilities kept the Belles from scoring for over two minutes until a jump shot from Lloyd broke the Belles scoreless streak and cutting the Greyhounds lead down to 11, 30-19.
  • A layup from Lana Marov and two free throws from Rocha cut ENMU's lead even further to seven points, 30-23.
  • A free throw from Samuel, a free throw from Megan Guadian, and a layup from Marov ended the second quarter for the Belles as the Greyhounds lead over the Belles was cut down to 12, 42-30.
Third Quarter
  • A three pointer from Guadian started the quarter off for the Belles and cut the Greyhounds lead down to 11, 44-33.
  • After a three pointer from Marov put the Belles at another 12 point deficit against ENMU, the Greyhounds defense once again kept the Belles from scoring for almost four minutes before a layup from Samuel brought the Belles within 16 points of ENMU's lead, 54-38.
  • Several free throws from Davis and Marov cut the Greyhounds lead down from 20 to 18 points, 68-50.
Fourth Quarter
  • Several layups from ENMU brought their lead up to 22 points before a made three pointer from Guadian cut their lead down to 19, 72-53.
  • ENMU kept their working defensive strategy in place against the Belles, once again keeping ASU from scoring for almost three minutes until a jumper from Davis cut the Greyhounds massive 25 point lead down to 23, 78-55.
  • Free throws from Perrine Manoury and Kinley Brown ended the fourth quarter for Angelo State, cutting the Greyhounds lead down to 24, but Eastern New Mexico's defense and quick defense kept the Belles from being able to make a comeback, defeating the Belles at home, 84-60.
Key Players:
  • Lana Marov led the Belles offense against the Greyhounds, scoring 14 points for the Belles. Marov shot 38% from the field, 40% from the three point line, and 100% from the free throw line, registering seven total rebounds, two on offense and five on defense.
  • Megan Guadians impressive shooting ability and quick reflexes was a huge impact for ASU, scoring 10 points for the Belles. Guadian shot 50% from all areas of the court, grabbing one defensive rebound and two assists.
  • Asia Davis has shown her ability to read a court and act quickly to be a benefit for Angelo State as she scored nine points for the Belles, shooting 27& from the field and 83% from the free throw line. Davis grabbed five total rebounds, one offensive and four defensive, along with two assists and one steal.

The Belles return to the Stephens Arena as they face off against the No. 16 West Texas A&M Buffs on Saturday, February 8. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
