Rambelles Face Lubbock Christian for the Third Time in Quarterfinals

FRISCO, Texas – The Angelo State Belle basketball team earned their spot in the Lone Star Conference Tournament on Tuesday, March 3 with the win over Midwestern State in the first round. Now the Belles will face the No. 3 seed Lubbock Christian Chaparrals in the second round of the tournament.
The Belles are have an 18-9 record overall, and finished the regular season with a 14-8 record.

Series Matchup:
This will be the third time this season that Angelo State and Lubbock Christian have played each other on the basketball court. LCU currently has a 2-0 record over the Belles leading into this matchup. The last time the Belles and Chaparrals played each other was on January 11, 2020 where the Blue and Gold travelled to Lubbock, Texas and played the Chaparrals in the Rip Griffith Center where Lubbock Christian defeated Angelo State, 69-52.

De'Anira Moore was a crucial key in Angelo States defeat of Midwestern State on Tuesday, March 3, scoring 28 points for the Belles, shooting 68% from the field and making 13-19 field goals, along with shooting 66% from the free throw line and making 2-3 free throws. Moore grabbed nine total rebounds, three on offense and six on defense, as well as six blocks and two steals.
 
Sawyer Lloyd continues to make an impact for the Belles, scoring 15 points for ASU, shooting 38% from the field and making 5-13 from the field, shooting 50% from the three point line and making 3-6 from the beyond the three point line, and shooting 100% from the free throw line, making 2-2 free throws. Lloyd grabbed nine rebounds as well, five on offense and four on defense, along with four steals and five assists.
 
Lana Marov has shown her offensive and defensive capabilities for the Belles, scoring 15 points for Angelo State, shooting 45% from the field, making 5-11 field goals. Marov shot 44% from the three point line, making 4-9 three pointers. Marov grabbed 13 rebounds total, five on offense and eight on defense, while also grabbing one assist.

If the Belles win against the Chaparrals, Angelo State will advance to the semi-final round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament and will play the winner of the No. 2 West Texas A&M Buffs and the No. 7 St. Edward's Hilltoppers on Saturday, March 7 at Noon.
