LAREDO, Texas – The Angelo State women's golf team wrapped up the Jack Brown Invitational early this afternoon in seventh place, finishing the tournament (+78) as a team in Laredo.
The Belles found themselves in a competitive position after two rounds, sitting just seven strokes out of third, but the team struggled mightily on the second day of the tournament.
Patrizia Schaefer finished a season best seventh place for the Belles at (+8) including a second round 71 (-1).
ROUND by ROUND
Round 1
The Belles found themselves in a three-way tie for fourth at the conclusion of the first round of action, shooting a 309 (+21).
Maria Sierra Sanz led the way for the Belles, with a (+3) 75 through 18. Schaefer was one stoke behind her teammate with a first round 76 (+4).
Skyler Strube and
Laura Kilmova both shot a 79 (+7) in round one to round out the point scorers.
Ozlyan Juarez finished with a (+8) 80 and
LeeAnn Parker, competing as an individual, shot a first round 81 (+9).
Round 2
ASU saw a seven-stroke improvement in round two, shooting a combined 302 (+14), to put them at (+35) after two rounds, sitting in sixth. Schaefer has her best round of the 2021-22 campaign with a one under 71, placing her in a tie for fourth (+3) for the first two rounds. Sierra Sanz improved on her first round as well, taking off two strokes, leaving her in a tie for sixth at (+4). After round two, the Belles found themselves three strokes behind fifth place Texas A&M International, four strokes behind fourth place West Texas A&M, and seven behind third place Biola University.
Round 3
The Belles had their worst round in Laredo on day two, shooting a 326 (+38). Schaefer continued her great play, shooting a (+5) 77, as she finished seventh place in the 54-player field, her best finish this season. Sierra Sanz finished the day with a 79 (+7), tied for 12
th overall. Strube, Juarez, Kilmova, and Parker all shot an 85 (+13) in the final round.

The next tournament will take place March 13-15 in Wichita Falls at the Midwestern Invitational as the Belles gear up for the conference tournament in April.
