Lexington, Ky. – The Angelo State Volleyball team, for the 11th year in a row, has earned the United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Academic Team Award, the AVCA announced today.
The award, created for the 1992-93 academic year, honors squads that maintain a minimum of a 3.30 team GPA for the fall and spring semesters. The Belles are one of nine squads from the LSC to be honored this season.
The Belles' 11 years in a row is the third-longest streak in the Lone Star Conference, behind Texas Woman's 15 and St. Mary's 12.
Additionally, the Belles earned the distinction of being named to the Honor Roll for finishing in the top 20 percent of team GPAs in Division II. The Belles are one of 29 Division II programs to earn the honor and only one of two from the LSC (alongside Texas Woman's).
