Big Four Shine in Rambelles Victory Over Midwestern State

Wichita Falls, Texas - After dominating the offensive and defensive glass, the Angelo State women's basketball team got back on track after defeating Midwestern State 93-71 Thursday night inside the D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
 
The Rambelles improved to 13-5 on the season and are now 7-2 in Lone Star Conference play, while the Mustangs fall to 4-12 and 4-6 in conference.
 
40 MINUTE RUNDOWN
  • Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant scored seven of the team's nine points in the first two minutes of action.
  • At the 3:45 marker, a jumper by Sawyer Lloyd gave the Rambelles the lead back, 15-13.
  • A fast break layup by Madi Lumsden brought the game to 21-21 in the second quarter.
  • A three by Sawyer Lloyd at the 9:33 marker gave the Rambelles a 24-21 lead to start the second quarter.
  • It was much back and forth in the second quarter, with the Mustangs having a five-point lead with four minutes remaining.
  • Tay McGhee-Pleasant would knock down a layup to tie the game 39-39 in the last minute of action.
  • The Rambelles would score 5 points in the last thirty seconds to give the Rambelles a, 43-39 lead going into halftime.
  • The Rambelles would open the second half by scoring the first nine points, six by Madeline Stephens.

  • McGhee-Pleasant led all scorers with 29 points on the evening to go along with 10 rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
  • Stephens was also all over the stat sheet, finishing with 22 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, four blocks, and two steals.
  • Lloyd had 17 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, one block, and one steal.
  • Landry Morrow would record 12 points, six assists, five rebounds, and two steals.
  • The Blue and Gold dominated the glass, outrebounding the Mustangs 47-35 in the contest, hauling in 12 offensive boards.
  • The Belles would shoot 57 percent (38-66) from the field, 36 percent (8-22) from behind the arc, and 50 percent (9-18) from the free throw line.
