SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State men's basketball opens their home schedule on Tuesday evening when they host Arlington Baptist. The game will be the first one for the Rams inside the Junell Center - Stephens Arena since February 17th, when the Rams defeated Midwestern State in triple overtime.
LAST TIME OUT
The Rams split their opening games, losing their opener to New Mexico Highlands 84-83 and then bouncing back to defeat No. 22 Fort Lewis 69-63.
RAMS RETURN FOUR
The Rams return four members from last year's team -
DJ Freeman,
Carvell Teasett,
Kendrick Delahoussaye, and
Shemar Smith - as they work ten new players into the fold. The quartet averaged 42 points of the team's 76 points through the season's first two games.
PATEL IN HOME OPENERS
Vinay Patel is 2-0 in home openers at Angelo State and 8-1 in his home opener as head coach. This is the third successive season the Rams will open their home schedule with Arlington Baptist.
TEASETT TIME
After only scoring in double figures in six games last season, senior guard
Carvell Teasett has started this season off emphatically after averaging 20 points per game in the opening weekend. His 21 points against New Mexico Highlands is his highest point total for Angelo State, and his 19 points against Fort Lewis exceeded his single-game high from last season. The Baton Rogue product is second in the LSC in scoring and leads the league in three-point percentage (64.3 percent) and three-pointers made per game (4.5).

Kaden Evans made an immediate impact on the defensive end of the floor, recording four steals in the Rams' season opener versus New Mexico Highlands. He also scored 17 points versus the Cowboys. He nabbed a pair of steals in the Rams' win over Fort Lewis. He is averaging three steals per game, which is tied for the lead in the LSC.
RAMS FROM DEEP
The Rams lead the LSC with a 43.2 percent shooting mark from three through the opening weekend; they also have the stingiest defense from beyond the arc, holding the opposition to just 22.2 percent shooting from deep, the best mark in the league.

Three Rams have recorded a personal best this season.
- Blessing Adesipe scored seven points and grabbed five rebounds in the Rams' win over No. 22 Fort Lewis on Nov. 9.
- Sterling Gaston-Chapman tied his career bests against No. 22 Fort Lewis with three assists in the Rams' win over the Skyhawks on November 9.
- Damonze Woods grabbed four rebounds and had two assists in his Angelo State debut against New Mexico Highlands on Nov. 8.

The Rams have made the Junell Center-Stephens Arena a fortress under head coach
Vinay Patel, accumulating a 23-2 record in Patel's two seasons in San Angelo, good enough for a .920 winning percentage. His first season featured the Rams going 13-0 on their home court; the second season they've been undefeated on their home court across a season. The Rams went 17-0 inside the Junell Center - Stephens Arena in 2014-15.
RAMS FOURTH IN LSC PRESEASON POLL
The Rams were picked to finish fourth in the LSC Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's coaches and sports information directors. The Rams were picked behind West Texas A&M, DBU, and Lubbock Christian.
RABEDEAUX JOINS COACHING STAFF
Vinay Patel added
Cole Rabedeaux to the staff as an assistant coach for the Rams Basketball program. Rabedeaux joins the Rams from Division II school Winona State, where he was an assistant coach for one season. He helped the Warriors to a 21-10 record and an appearance in the NSIC Tournament Championship game as the sixth seed in the tournament. Rabedeaux started his career at the University of Houston as a graduate assistant after successfully playing at Wisconsin Eau-Claire, where he was a two-time all-conference performer.

Defensively, Opponents score 78.7 points per game on 42.9 percent shooting and 28.8 percent from three. The Patriots get out-rebounded by 2.7 boards per contest.
