PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Angelo State track & field teams wrapped up the first day of the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships on Friday, as
Abby Zamzow earned First-Team All-American honors for the sixth-ranked Rambelles at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
Zamzow, a graduate student majoring in coaching, sports, rec. fitness administration, finished seventh overall in the long jump to earn a spot on the podium, jumping a personal best 6.00m (19'-8.25").
Fatoumata Kabo advanced to the finals of the 400-meter dash, running the second fastest time in the prelims at 53.38.
Shadae Findley finished 10
th overall in the event with a time of 54.45, earning Second-Team All-American.
Earning two Second-Team All-American accolades was
Maricia Spence who finished ninth overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.58 while taking 11
th overall in the long jump at 5.72m (18'-9.25").
Jacent Nyamahunge finished 14
th overall in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, running times of 7.55 and 24.28.
The Rams had two athletes competing in the heptathlon as
Elvis Kryukov sits in third after day one with 3,180 points while
Mark Burdin is in ninth with 3,049 points. Kryukov took second in the shot put portion with a mark of 15.25m (50'-0.5") while Burdin finished fourth in the event at 14.54m (47'-8.5").
The meet continues tomorrow with the pentathlon beginning at 10 a.m., while the heptathlon resumes at noon. The field events begin at 3:05 and the finals of the track events start at 5 p.m.
