Women's Tennis Will Burrow, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

Rambelles Beat Texas A&M - Kingsville 4-0 to Move on to the LSC Semifinals


Arlington, Texas - The No.16 Angelo State women's tennis team defeated Texas A&M - Kingsville 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
 
Ayda Guler and Letizia Corsini started things for the Rambelles in doubles play as they got the best of Annika Andersson Gomez and Ella Hester 6-0. With this victory, the pairings move their overall record to 19-2.
 
Mike Van Deventer and Alexandra Vishnevskaya would clinch the match for the Rambelles, defeating Luna Jokanovic and Manuela Turolo 6-3 to give the Rambelles a 1-0 lead going into the singles portion of play.
 
The match at line one with Eva Schwartz and Avery Durham would be called at 5-4, with the Belles leading over Alessa Maier and Milou Ter Morsche when line three would clinch the match for the Belles.
 
Letizia Corsini, who was selected as the Player of the Year on Wednesday night, wasted little time giving ASU a 2-0 lead by taking down the sixth-ranked Alessa Maier in straight sets 6-1, 6-1, moving her undefeated streak to 20-0.
 
Jessica Li, who was selected to the second team singles team would continue to lock down the line three as she would get the best of Luna Jokanovic in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 to help the Rambelles gain a 3-0 advantage.
 
Returning to the lineup, Ivet Stancheva would clinch the victory for the Rambelles as she defeated Raina Zaffar 6-2, 7-5.
 
When the match was called Eva Schwartz was down to Manuela Turolo 5-7 in the first set.
 
Ayda Guler was facing Milou Ter Morsche on four when Ivet Stancheva clinched the match the line four match would be called Ayda winning the first set 6-1, and in the second set, it was 5-6 in favor of Milou Ter Morsche.
 
Alexandra Vishnevskaya would be facing Annika Anderson Gomez when the match would be called with Alexandra winning 6-3 and the second set tied at 5-5.
 
With the  4-0 victory, the Rambelles move on to the semifinals to take on three-seeded Cameron, with first serve scheduled for 9:30.
