LUBBOCK, Texas – The Angelo State track & field teams concluded the Corky/Crofoot Shootout at Texas Tech on Saturday as the eighth-ranked Rambelles won three events as both teams collected 12 provisional marks on the weekend.
The Rambelles earned the fastest time in both relay events on the weekend. The 4x100-meter relay team of
Maricia Spence,
Fatoumata Kabo,
Alliyah Harrison and
Zykia McDaniel set a new program record for the second time this season as they crossed the finish at 45.20. Kabo, McDaniel,
Shadae Findley and
Kylie Frush teamed up in the 4x400-meter relay, winning the event with a time of 3:39.29.
Kabo also picked up a victory in the 400-meter hurdles, beating out several Division I competitors to win with a provisional time of 58.48. Also earning provisionals in the event was Spence who took fourth at 1:01.46 and
Ariyah Samuels who finished seventh at 1:02.14.
Earning third overall in the 400-meter dash was Findley who ran a provisional time of 53.86 while
Anna Eischen took third in the 5,000-meter run at 18:30.94. Spence finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.78 followed by Samuels in 10
th (14.05) and
Averie Griffith in 13
th (14.11), all three earning provisional times.
The Belles placed two athletes in the top eight of section B of the javelin as Spence threw 39.21m (128-7) to finish fifth while
Anna Riccomagno finished eighth at 35.85 (117-7).
Allison Vaughn earned a provisional mark in the triple jump, taking seventh at 12.11m (39-8.75) while
Abby Zamzow finished eighth with a jump of 11.92m (39-1.25).
On the men's side, the 4x100-meter relay team of
David Morgan,
Solomon Odonkor,
Dorian Leda and
Prince Frimpong took fourth overall with a provisional time of 40.36. In the 4x400-meter relay,
Max Wassmer, Frimpong, Antonio Blair and
Brad Humphreys finished fifth at 3:15.16.
Brad Humphreys finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.74 followed by
Ruben Davila in ninth at 55.80.
Blair also finished seventh in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 1:52.08, while
Austin Souther was 10
th in the 1,500-meter run at 4:09.97.
Earning a provisional mark in the pole vault was
Jacobee Jones who took seventh, clearing a height of 4.92m (16-1.75).
Luis Alvarado claimed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 58.29m (191-3) while
Cole Paxton was seventh in the hammer at 54.56m (179-0).
The Rams and Belles will prepare for the Lone Star Conference Championships which will be hosted by ASU beginning on Thursday, May 9 at LeGrand Stadium at 1
st Community Credit Union Field.
