Richardson, Texas – Following a week in which they went 5-0, the Angelo State volleyball team capped off their successful week with freshman middle
Sydney Thornton being named the conference's freshman of the week.
Thornton hit .458 for the week and tallied 47 points, including 13 blocks, across 13 sets.
Against Western Colorado, the Business student did not commit an attacking error, burying seven kills in ten attempts for a .700 attack percentage.
The Prosper product had ten kills, five blocks, and hit .533 against Adams State to open her weekend. She had eight kills against Cal State Dominguez Hills and closed her weekend with a career-high 14 kills in the Belles' four-set win over No. 15 Colorado Mesa.
She was named to the Maverick Fall Classic All-Tournament Team.
This is the second weekly honor for the Belles this season, as Thornton joined
Adeline Ortman, who was named setter of the week last week.
Thornton and the Belles are 8-1 on the season and are in action this Thursday and Friday when they take on DBU and West Texas A&M at the LSC Challenge in Dallas.
