SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's tennis team kicks off its fall season this week, participating in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) South Central Regional, hosted by UT Tyler in Tyler, Texas, beginning on Thursday and lasting through Saturday.
The Rambelles return three athletes from last season's team that went 15-7 overall:
Mary-June Quinn,
Benedetta Raggiotti, and Sophomore
Margaux Rene returns for the Rambelles after earning Freshman of the Year honors with a 17-5 record and a perfect 4-0 record from No. 1 singles.
The Belles bring in five newcomers this fall: Freshman
Danaiya Amangazhiyeva from Almaty, Kazakhstan, Freshman
Jade Bestagno from Sainte Maxime, France, Freshman
Sasha Felixova from Sala, Slovakia, Anastasia Melnikova from Moscow, Russia, and Anna Waché from Paris, France.
The Teams that will be participating in the ITA South Central Regionals are: Angelo State, CSU Pueblo, Texas A&M-Kingsville, UT Tyler, Midwestern State, Cameron, University of Texas at Dallas, UT Permian Basin, and Lubbock Christian.
The Five-round tournament begins with Round of 32 on Thursday, with the winners advancing to the quarterfinals on Friday and the finals on Saturday. The winners from both singles and doubles play automatically qualifes to participate in the ITA CUP in Rome, GA., on October 10-12.
