Richardson, Texas – Angelo State softball's
Ashleigh Dendas and
Zoey Sifuentes claimed the Lone Star Conference's Pitcher and Freshman of the Week awards following the Rambelles' 4-0 record this past weekend.
Dendas, a product of Sacramento, California, allowed only one run in 10.1 innings of work as she improved her record on the season to 8-1. She threw a complete-game shutout against Texas A&M International, allowing one hit against the Dustdevils in a five-inning run-rule victory.
The Applied Psychology student allowed one run and five hits in 5.1 innings of work against Texas A&M-Kingsville, striking out three Javelinas.
Dendas has a 2.32 ERA and has struck out 41 batters in 51.1 innings this season.
Sifuentes hit .545 for the week with a home run, three doubles, and seven RBI to pace the Rambelles at the plate.
The Lamesa product is riding an 11-game hitting streak and is tied for the league lead in doubles with 11.
The Kinesiology major is named the conference's freshman of the week for the third time this season. She is hitting .493 with a .910 slugging percentage in her rookie campaign.
The 7
th-ranked Rambelles are home this weekend to host UT Tyler and Texas Woman's.
