  • Expectations and goals for the 2014 season: Same thing for every season — end on a win. The only way to do that is to win a National Championship.
  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of: Being a part of such a successful volleyball program and helping the success grow.
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision: I was blessed with a ton of new sisters. Nobody else has a family like the RamFam! I also met my fiancé here, so that's a huge blessing as well. 
  • What do you enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center: The energy that the crowd brings is unreal. We have the best fans in the Nation!
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match: Katie MacLeay. The littles bring the power.
  • Funniest teammate and why: Klohe Harrion because she is the most awkward person I have met. You can just watch her and I guarantee you will laugh.
  • Most serious teammate and why: Cerbi Ritchey because she's sassy.
  • Dream concert: Hillsong United
  • Dream vacation: Fiji
  • Dream career: Stay at home mom.
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me: I am on my way to becoming a pro golfer. (Even if you just started you're on your way, right?)
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court: The Halloween practice last year when Kaelen Valdez wore a tutu and princess butterfly wings.
 
Katie MacLeay  |  Defensive Specialist  |  Junior  |  San Antonio, Texas
  • Expectations and goals for the 2014 season: To get another ring for a conference championship and to win a regional championship! Once we do that, who knows what could happen!
  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of: Although I don't know if I have been accepted yet, I am very proud that I have been able to create a competitive application to the medical school of my dreams, Texas Tech!
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision: I'm surrounded by not only an amazing coaching staff and teammates, but I am surrounded by professors who genuinely care about my success.
  • What do you enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center: Well the arena is absolutely beautiful! And we have the best fans! #RAMFAM
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match: I couldn't say because we have so many new girls!
  • Funniest teammate and why: Mallory seems pretty funny for the small amount of time I have been around her!
  • Most serious teammate and why: Kailyn Troxell. She is always on top of stuff and always has a plan.
  • Dream concert: I want to go see Corey Smith in Charleston, South Carolina!
  • Dream vacation: I really want to go to Hawaii. Like a Disney cruise to Hawaii!
  • Dream career: Team doctor and surgeon for a professional sports team
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me: I have an intense photographic memory!
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court: When I played in the 2011 Junior National Championships in Atlanta a week after having surgery on my broken nose. I played with a mask and we got 3rd place!

  • Expectations and goals for the 2014 season:  One major goal for the 2014 season is to go farther in the post-season than last year.  I want us to be able to host the Conference Tournament as well as the Regional Tournament and then go to the Elite Eight. 
  • Most proud accomplishment: I am most proud of my grades and the hard work I put towards academics.
  • Why playing at Angelo State was a great decision: Our team is like my second family and I can honestly say these girls are my best friends.  We really have amazing team cohesion and want the best for each other on and off the court.   We get so much support from the school and community.  The program focuses on helping us be the best student-athletes by emphasizing the importance of our academics and volleyball.
  • What do you enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center? I love that our gym is so big.  We really are blessed with such awesome facilities.  I also love that we have a student section that shows such great support.
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match:  Arielle Bond
  • Funniest Teammate and why: Katie MacLeay. She has some good dance moves.  She also has the most interesting stories.
  • Most serious teammate and why:  I really don't think anyone is too serious on our team, but Cerbi Ritchey seems serious at first.  Once you get to know her she is so funny!
  • Dream Concert: George Strait and Taylor Swift
  • Dream Vacation: Australia
  • Dream Career: Nurse in the neonatal unit
  • Special talent: I can wakeboard!
  • Favorite memory on volleyball court: Beating WT at home.

  • Expectations and goals for the 2014 season: Be conference champs, regional champs, make it to the elite eight, and under all circumstances BEAT WT!!
  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of: Having the opportunity to play at the collegiate level.
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision:  I couldn't ask for better teammates!
  • What do you enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center: The crowd is so involved and the atmosphere is tense and exciting.
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match: Cerbi Ritchey
  • Funniest teammate and why: Haley Bianco. She has no filter
  • Most serious teammate and why: Shelby Wilt. She so in tune with the game
  • Dream concert: Cody Johnson
  • Dream vacation: Any Island
  • Dream career: Still working on that.
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me: I can lift my leg over my head.
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court: Winning the conference championship and beating WT on our home court.

  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of: Making a 94 on one of my algebra test all thanks to Ms. Cerbi Ritchey
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision: We win more often than not! 
  • What do you enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center: I enjoy the crowd that we bring in the most about the Junell Center.
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match: Arielle Bond
  • Funniest teammate: Kailyn Troxell
  • Most serious teammate: Shelby Wilt
  • Dream concert: Beyonce

  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me: I can draw.
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court: Beating WT.
 
Cerbi Ritchey  |  Outside Hitter  |  Sophomore  |  Big Spring, Texas
  • Expectations and goals for the 2014 season: Getting a nice big ring!! Winning a conference championship, hosting regionals and winning the tournament, and going to the elite eight to win it all!
  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of: Being a volleyball player at Angelo State.
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision:  I'm surrounded by amazing people who make me better. I have improved as a volleyball player and a person because of them.
  • What do you enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center: The atmosphere is incredible! We have the best fans and support a team could ask for. It's so exciting to play in front of our home crowd.
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match:  Arielle Bond
  • Funniest teammate and why: Haley Bianco. She speaks her mind and makes things a lot of fun.
  • Most serious teammate and why:  Kailyn Troxell. She is strictly business and follows the rules!
  • Dream concert: Third Eye Blind
  • Dream vacation: A trip to Greece wouldn't be so bad.
  • Dream career: Professional crafter
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me:  I was in gymnastics growing up, and I can still do a back handspring.
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court:  I have a tendency to take serve receive balls with my hands and coach Waddington told us we could only use our platforms and not our hands for a certain drill or we had to run to the top of the Junell and touch the wall. So as a serve receive ball was heading straight for my face, I decided to just take it in the face instead of using my hands. I don't think that was exactly what coach was looking for.

  • Expectations and goals for the 2014 season:  Win conference and make it to the Elite Eight. Oh and win that all too, of course.
  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of: Not breaking any bones. (Knock on wood!)
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision:   This is one team that is determined and talented enough to go all the way. Also, we are a family unit and everyone has each other's backs.
  • What do you enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center: There is something so great about having a home gym that everyone else in your conference is jealous of!
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match:  Arielle Bond because she can sure hit the snot out of a ball.
  • Funniest teammate and why: Hmm it was Valdez so someone has to come in and take over as "court clown"!!!
  • Most serious teammate and why:  I don't know if anyone is really serious, we all have our different senses of humor, but we know when to be serious on the court.
  • Dream concert: The Beatles would be a dream come true. I would ball my eyes out!
  • Dream vacation: Backpacking through all of Europe.
  • Dream career: I would love to lie on a beach for a living. Talk about a dream!
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me:  I love to draw. I've drawn tattoos for myself and a few friends.
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court: The first time a got a kill when I was in third grade playing for a rec league. It was the best feeling that I wanted to keep repeating.

  • Expectations and goals for the 2014 season:  Win conference, host Regionals, and make it to Louisville for the National Championship.
  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of: I am proud that I was able to be successful participating in three sports at the same time (Volleyball, Basketball, and Track) while being a distinguished graduate from my high school.
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision:  It took me a year to figure it out, but I am finally in a place where I know I can succeed and continue on the court, in the classroom, and in my personal life. I have never been so excited to start a season with teammates by my side who not only great players, but exceptional people.
  • What do you enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center: I haven't got to play in the Junell yet, but I love how court truly is the center of attention.  I can't wait to see it filled with our fans.
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match: Arielle Bond
  • Funniest teammate and why: Haley Bianco. She keeps it real.
  • Most serious teammate and why: I'm not sure. Whenever we're all together, everyone is cutting up.
  • Dream concert: I like all kinds of music, so definitely an Austin music festival like ACL or SxSW.
  • Dream vacation: Anywhere where there's snow and mountains.
  • Dream career: Teaching Science and coaching basketball at a high school.
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me: I can make a three-leaf clover with my tongue.
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court: Winning a State Championship my senior year of High School.

  • Expectations and goals for the 2014 season: To be conference champions, conference tournament champions, and MAKE IT TO THE ELITE EIGHT.
  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of: Being able to continue my education while playing the sport that I love.
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision: Angelo State has turned out to be a great decision because I've met some of the best people here and I know that going here will help me in the future.
  • What do you enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center: The Junell Center is an awesome arena with amazing fans and the atmosphere overall is exhilarating.
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match: Arielle Bond
  • Funniest teammate and why: Haley Bianco. She just says whatever she wants and has no shame.
  • Most serious teammate and why: I don't know if I would really consider anyone really serious…
  • Dream concert: BEYONCE
  • Dream vacation: Bora Bora
  • Dream career: Something that makes a lot of money.
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me: I'm pretty good at finishing entire seasons of shows on Netflix in one day.
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court: The first time I got to play in the Junell! That's probably the scariest thing I've ever done in my life.

  • My expectations and goals for the 2014 season: To win the Lone Star Conference regular season and postseason tournament, earning us a spot in the 2014 NCAA regional tournament.
  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of: I am most proud of earning a scholarship to go to college and play volleyball.
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision:  It was a great decision because the volleyball team competes at a high level and has potential to make deep post season runs.
  • Dream vacation: My dream vacation is to Hawaii.
  • Dream career: My dream career is a Pediatric Nurse.
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me:  I am ambidextrous.
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court: My favorite memory on the volleyball court is winning the Lincoln Public Schools tournament my sophomore year of high school.

  • Expectations for the 2014 season: To come out with 2 rings by winning the conference and then winning a national title. 
  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of: Getting a scholarship to continue doing what I love. 
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision: Coach Waddington and the level of play on the court. 
  • Dream concert: Beyoncé or Justin Timberlake 
  • Dream vacation: The Bahamas or Thailand 
  • Dream career: Marine Biologist 
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me: I'm good at drawing 
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court: Playing for the National title my 16's year. Or winning a tournament with six players.

  • Expectations and goals for the 2014 season:  Conference champions and a national title!!
  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of:  I have dreamed of playing college volleyball since I was 10, and I am proud of myself for the hard work and dedication I put in to get here.
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision:  Because at Angelo we expect to win, and that mentality creates such a great competitive gym environment! I love it.
  • What do you enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center:  I love the size! I get pumped thinking about playing in a big arena like that.
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match:  Arielle Bond
  • Funniest teammate and why: Kylie Rollman. She is just a goofball all the time!
  • Most serious teammate and why:  Brianna Sotello. She always has a really intense look on her face while we're playing.
  • Dream concert: Katy Perry or Justin Timberlake
  • Dream vacation: Australia! I've always wanted to go scuba diving at The Great Barrier Reef :)
  • Dream career:  I think it would be really cool to be a sports psychologist for an NFL team.
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me:  I have played the piano since I was 7, and I love playing in my spare time, but classical is my favorite :)
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court:  My senior year in high school we were the underdogs and beat our crosstown rival for the first time in seven years.  Not only was it a sweet victory, but the gym was packed; it was the most incredible atmosphere I have yet to play in.

  • Expectations and goals for the 2014 season: Work my hardest, become the best player I possibly can be, become stronger(physically as well as mentally and emotionally), and WIN
  • Accomplishment I am most proud of: Making myself go out on a limb and pass up a great scholarship to move to Texas and pray to find a school just as great or greater, which I didJ.
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was  a great decision: Great people, great atmosphere, amazing coaches and teammates
  • What I enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center: Well haven't officially "played" in the Junell center but just thinking about it gives me butterflies. Good butterflies, that is. It just makes me so pumped for the season,  I wish we could just play already.
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match: Abbie Lynn
  • Dream concert: Ke$ha
  • Dream vacation:  Australia
  • Dream career:  Marine biologist/zoologist
  • Special talent: I can eat as much as I want and can never gain weight (if that's a talent??)
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court: Beating my old high school that I transferred from in a 5 set district final match to go to the state tournament.

  • Expectations and goals for the 2014 season:  Earning playing time and having a successful 1st season with my team.
  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of:  Winning State in the 4x4 in Track my senior year
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision:  I love Coach Waddington and my teammates.
  • What do you enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center:  I've only been there for camp but love how great our facility is. 
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match:  Cerbi Ritchey
  • Funniest teammate and why:  Kylie Rollman. She is a nut!
  • Most serious teammate and why:  Shelby Wilt. She is always focused.
  • Dream concert:  Coldplay
  • Dream vacation:  Scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef - Australia
  • Dream career:  Nutritionist for a Professional Sports Team
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me: I can make myself look like a frog
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court: Beating Decatur to go to State my Junior Year in High School and getting All Tournament team and All State.

  • Expectations and goals for the 2013 season: Win conference, host the regional tournament and advance to the Elite 8.
  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of: Getting a scholarship to play college volleyball at the best school ever.
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision:  Because we win. I love the coaches and my teammates. It is also pretty close to my family. It's my perfect fit!
  • What do you enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center: The energy the fans bring is amazing.
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match: Arielle Bond
  • Dream concert: Beyonce

  • Dream career: Occupational Therapist
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me: I can juggle volleyballs.
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court: Winning a state championship during my senior year of high school.

  • Most serious teammate and why: Shelby Wilt, because she's so dedicated.
  • Dream concert: Miranda Lambert
  • Dream vacation: Hawaii
  • Dream career: Head college volleyball coach.
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me: I can play the guitar.

  • Expectations and goals for fall 2014 season: I want our team to go all the way and do something we've never done before like region champions or even national champions.
  • What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of: Playing college volleyball have been a dream of mine ever since I started playing. I never actually thought it would happen but here I am at ASU!
  • Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision: I knew as soon as I came to visit ASU that I would love it. The team is full of awesome people and the school itself has the major I was interested in studying. I can't wait to get to know these girls better and kick butt on the court this year.
  • What do you enjoy most about playing in the Junell Center: I haven't had my first game in the Junell Center yet, however, I can't wait for the support from our school. I love the noise of a cheering crowd.
  • Teammate I wouldn't want to try and dig in a match: Probably Arielle or Brianna. 
  • Funniest teammate and why: Probably Zoey. She's so spunky and outgoing and it makes you laugh really easily.
  • Most serious teammate and why: Probably Shelby. Only when she needs to be. Being a captain you need to be able to know how to manage a whole group of girls and she does a really good job.
  • Dream concert: Miley Cyrus. I've already been to one of hers but I love her and wouldn't mind going again.
  • Dream vacation: Definitely Greece. I've only seen pictures but it looks absolutely beautiful.
  • Dream career: Probably a neurosurgeon, but I don't think I'd ever be able to work with so much at stake every time I clock in.
  • Special talent I have that people don't know about me: I can make my tongue look like a three leaf clover.
  • Favorite memory on a volleyball court: During my last high school season my team beat another team 15-0 in the third set to win our bracket. Such a great feeling.
