SAN ANGELO –
One losing streak had to come to an end Saturday. Angelo State's Ridge McKeither made sure it was the Rams' as the senior forward poured in 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lift to its first win of the season, 78-48, against Southeastern Oklahoma State at the Junell Center.

McKeither helped Angelo State (1-6) snap a six-game losing streak and avoid tying the program's worst start ever with his fifth double-double of the season while handing the Savage Storm (1-10) their 10th-consecutive loss. LaMarshall Corbett (16) and Richard Thomas (15) also reached double figures for ASU. Steve Moore notched a season-best 10 assists and chipped in six points.

The Rams looked hungry for a win from the opening tipoff and scored 10 points before Southeastern Oklahoma State got on the board with a free throw from Josh Delfino nearly five minutes into the game. During the opening run, Thomas, Corbett and McKeither all connected on dunks. Chris Roussell recorded SOSU's first field goal at 13:11 in the first half. Before the end of the first half, ASU ran its advantage to 28 points at 44-16.

Angelo State continued to push after the break and ran the lead to as high as 39 (62-23) with 11:48 to go in the game. Corbett, who missed more than nine minutes in the first period after picking up three early fouls, led all scorers after the break with eight points.

The Rams outscored the Savage Storm 50-20 in the paint and forced 25 turnovers. Angelo State also held a 14-6 advantage on the offensive glass which led to a 15 second-chance points.

Alex Hoffpauir came off the bench to lead the Savage Storm with 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field. Roussell finished with SOSU's high in rebounds after he grabbed eight caroms.

Angelo State will welcome East Central Oklahoma to the Junell Center Monday for a Lone Star Conference crossover doubleheader starting with the women's game at 5:30 p.m.
