SAN ANGELO –
Sophomore Lindsey Youngblood tied her career-high with 12 points and set a new career-best with nine rebounds to help the Rambelles to a much-needed 65-58 victory over Incarnate Word. The Belles capitalized on 17 steals and took advantage of 24 UIW turnovers in Saturday evening's Lone Star Conference South Division match-up.

Angelo State (10-8, 3-3 LSC South) had four Belles in double-figures as sophomore Giselle Aguirre led all scorers with 15 points. The guard out of El Paso, notched nine of her 15 points in the second half alone and tallied four rebounds and one steal in the game. Sophomore Lindsey Mahone added to the offense with 14 points, seven boards, three assists and two steals. Joining Lindsey Youngblood with 12 points, was senior Camille Perkins. The guard also added three boards, three assists and a pair of steals.

Despite only having six players in uniform, the injury-ridden Rambelles got on the board first as Lindsey Youngblood was fouled as she went up for a jumper. She completed the three-point play, sinking the free throw. With the game tied at five, the Belles went on a 10-0 run ignited by a lay-up by Lindsey Youngblood.

The Cardinals (6-12, 2-5 LSC South) took advantage of a run of their own as they rattled off five points to get within striking distance of ASU (19-16). Incarnate Word's persistence paid off as it took its first lead of the game on a Taylor Murray trey (24-25). The Cardinals' lead, however, did not last long as Lindsey Youngblood hit both her free throws and to put the Belles back up by one. With the clock winding down, Mahone sunk a lay-up, followed by freshman Karli Kellermeier's three-pointer to give the Angelo State a six-point lead (33-27) going into halftime.

After the intermission, the Cardinals' Chloe Wallace came out on fire as she drained 10 points in a matter of eight minutes to pull UIW within two (43-41). The Rambelles and Cardinals found themselves trading leads a dozen times in the game, until Aguirre drained a trey to put the Belles up for good (59-56). Angelo State closed the book on Incarnate Word with a final score of 65-58.

Ifunanya Mora recorded a team-best 13 points for Incarnate Word and Wallace finished the night with 12 points and nine rebounds.

The Belles return to action Wednesday, Feb. 2, when they host Abilene Christian in the Junell Center at 5:30 p.m. Live stats and live video are available for the Lone Star Conference South contest.
