LAST TIME OUT
A shooting drought cost the Rambelles their 10-game winning streak as it was snapped on the road against West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico last week. ASU went down to the wire against the Lady Buffs but they were not able to make a shot from the field in the final 6:28.
SCOUTING UTT
Last Meeting: Jan. 2, 2025 (San Angelo, Texas - UTT 45-42)
It has been just over two months since the Belles and Patriots last met on the hardwood. Last time out, the Belles turned the ball over 28 times while shooting just 31.1 percent from the field. What kept the game tight was limited UTT to just 35.2 shooting and forced 24 turnovers of their own.
UT Tyler enters the tournament with a 20-9 overall record and 16-4 in LSC play. The Patriots concluded their regular season sweeping last week's games, picking up home wins against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International.
Offensively, the Patriots average 60.2 points per game while shooting 38.6 percent from the field, 28.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 67 percent from the free throw line. The offense is led by Leila Davis, who paced the team at 12.3 points per game.
Defensively, UTT allows just under 52 points per game, which includes 36.6 percent of shots from the field. Furthermore, the Patriots average under 34 rebounds per game, led by Mileina Sablinskaite with 5.6 a game followed closely by Davis, who averages 5.5.

The former Texas Tech Lady Raider has compiled an impressive career record of 283–107 over 12 seasons, including a 94–55 mark in over four seasons at ASU.
FEELING MAJIK-AL…FOR THE THIRD TIME!
Majik Esquivel was named Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the third time on Feb. 23. She averaged 25 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists to fuel an unbeaten week against No. 23 Lubbock Christian and Midwestern State. The commercial aviation student helped the Rambelles increase their winning streak to 10 games. She shot 53.5 percent from the floor, made all eight of her free-throw attempts and added a steal and a block. In the 65-58 win over LCU, she had a game-high 24 points. She posted a career-high 25 points against Emporia State and recorded her third double-double of the season against the Lady Hornets. In addition to her offensive production, Williams made a strong impact on the defensive end, totaling 21 rebounds, eight blocks, three assists and one steal across the two contests.
EXPERIENCE TO SHARE
After fielding one of her youngest squads last season, head coach
Alesha Ellis enters the 2025–26 campaign with a veteran-heavy roster. The Rambelles feature five seniors, one junior, five sophomores, and just two freshmen, giving the team a strong balance of leadership and youthful energy.
NEW FACES, NEW VIBES
The Rambelles welcome four newcomers to the roster this season, highlighted by Division I transfers
Tristin Keller (Abilene Christian) and Stevi Lockheart (Lindenwood). They'll be joined by freshmen
Halle Hughes, a standout from Christoval High School, and
Dragana Scepanovic, a promising European addition who brings international experience to the squad.
2024-25 SEASON RECAP
The story of the Rambelles' 18–12 record in the 2024-25 campaign was one defined by streaks. Angelo State opened the season 2–0 before hitting a three-game skid, only to respond with an 11-game winning streak that propelled them back into contention. A late stretch of ups and downs — two losses, three wins, six losses, and two more victories — ultimately led to a first-round exit in the NCAA South Central Regional at the hands of Texas Woman's University.
