SAN ANGELO -
Sophomore Lindsey Mahone recorded a double-double and senior Camille Perkins led all scorers with 19 points as the Angelo State women's basketball team routed Eastern New Mexico, 66-37, at the Junell Center Wednesday evening during the Belles' Pink Zone game to help fight the battle against breast cancer. The victory marks the 14th straight home win over the Zias as the Belles have not lost to ENMU in San Angelo since 1996.

Mahone recorded five three-pointers and tallied 18 points with 10 rebounds in the win. The forward from Corpus Christi added a team-leading three steals. Perkins notched 19 points, five boards, six assists and two steals for Angelo State (14-9, 7-4 LSC South).

The Rambelles opened the game with three consecutive treys to take a 9-2 lead over Eastern New Mexico (4-18, 2-8 LSC South). Angelo State held the lead throughout the first half as five different Rambelles sunk three-point shots and sophomroe Ashely James tallied a pair of treys. James finished the night with six points, four assists, three boards and two blocks.

Both teams went cold as neither squad hit a field goal in nearly seven minutes. However, ASU's Karli Kellermeier ended the scoring drought as she grabbed a rebound off of Perkins' missed shot and laid it in before the shot clock expired to give the Belles a 10-point advantage (17-7) and get their offense going once again. Kellermeier tallied a career-best seven rebounds in the victory.

The Zias countered with a three-pointer of their own (17-10), but Angelo State closed out the first half on a 7-0 run, taking a 29-13 lead into the lockerroom.

The break in action did not stop the Belles as they came back firing. Perkins started ASU off hitting both her free throws, then nailing a jumper on the next possession to give the Belles a 33-16 lead. Mahone followed suit knocking down back-to-back threes putting the Rambelles up by 20 (39-19).

Mahone continued her offensive tear as she grabbed a steal and ran the ball down the court and was fouled as she sunk the lay-up. She completed the three-point play nailing her free throw and putting the Belles up 48-23. Mahone struck again as she drained another three to give the Rambelles their largest lead of the night (53-23).

The Belles continued to hit their shots and finished the night shooting 91.7 percent from the charity stripe en route to a 66-37 victory. The Rambelle defense held the Zias to just 27.7 percent shooting from the field, 25 percent shooting from beyond the arc and limited Eastern New Mexico to less than 40 points for the first time since 2000.

Eastern New Mexico was led by Cat Clay who was the only Zia to score in double figures as she tallied 12 points. Clay added five rebounds and one steal in the contest. Precious Herren notched seven points, five boards and two blocks for the Zias.

The Rambelles have won five of their last six games and look to continue their hot streak when they travel to Incarnate Word on Saturday, Feb. 19. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
