Final Stats (.pdf)

TAHLAQUAH, Okla. –
The Rams scored five runs in the fifth inning, but a pair of Angelo State errors led to five unearned runs and the Rams' ninth consecutive loss as ASU dropped a 13-8 contest to Northeastern State. With the loss, the Rams fall to 17-16 (11-11 LSC) on the season and the RiverHawks move to 4-23 (3-20 LSC).

Marcellous Biggins finished the game going 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI, while Travis Lites went 2-for-5 with one run batted in and two runs scored. Centerfielder Joseph Leftridge also went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

Angelo State starter Matt Rechkemmer struggled in the first allowing three runs, all earned, on as many hits in just 0.1 innings of work. Craig Blair came on in relief and surrendered two more runs as the Rams dug themselves into a 5-0 hole.

Despite trailing by five runs, the Rams' offense awoke in the fourth inning as designated hitter Lites led off the frame with a double to left-center field. Leftfielder Garrett Harris roped an RBI-single to left scoring Lites and getting the Rams on the board.

Angelo State rallied in the fifth scoring five runs as the Rams took advantage of a pair of walks, a hit batsman, and an error to take a 6-5 lead and knock out Northeastern State starter Andrew White.

The Rams lead would not last long as the RiverHawks plated seven runs in the bottom of the frame to reclaim their lead. The inning was highlighted with a three-run homer by second baseman Cale Replogle. The Rams would commit a pair of errors in the inning leading to five unearned runs (12-6).

Right-hander Bren Schuehler (0-1) suffered the loss as he allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits in 3.2 innings. He did not issue a walk and fanned two.

Biggins homered in the sixth bringing ASU within five and the Rams plated another run in the eighth, but it was not enough to overcome the seven-run fifth inning.

Northeastern State added another run in the eighth as Replogle hit his second homer of the game to give the RiverHawks a 13-8 advantage.

NSU reliever Jake Avery (1-0) earned the win after pitching a single inning and allowing just one earned run on one hit.

The Rams and the RiverHawks will square off Saturday, April 2, in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
