KINGSVILLE, Texas – Angelo State women's basketball looks to break a three-game losing streak as it travels to play Texas A&M-Kingsville on Wednesday. Tip-off is slated to begin at 6 p.m. at Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
 
The ASU-TAMUK Series
Angelo State holds a 39-26 all-time advantage over the Javelinas, including a 68-47 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville on Jan. 4 earlier this year in San Angelo. The Belles have won the last four meetings dating back to 2010.
 
In the most recent contest, freshman forward Haylee Oliver scored a career-high 28 points with nine rebounds and four steals. The 28 points was the most by an Angelo State freshman since Camille Perkins scored 35 at Abilene Christian on February 17, 2008.
 
Texas A&M-Kingsville's Shonta Dobbins had 13 points for the Javelinas versus the Belles. Jackie Stanley had a game-high 14 rebounds.
 
About Angelo State
Angelo State is 11-11 overall on the year and is currently in fifth place in the Lone Star Conference with a 9-7 record. The Belles have dropped three straight, including both home contest last week with the latest being a 54-53 heartbreaker at the hands of West Texas A&M Saturday.
 
Prior to last week's contest, ASU was 6-0 at home during conference play and 7-1 overall on the season. The Belles are 4-6 away from Stephens Arena in the Junell Center, losing their last challenge at Midwestern State on Feb. 8, 83-70.
 
Oliver has a team-leading 249 points for the season and is averaging 12.2 points per game during league play. The San Saba native has scored in double-digits in 13 games this season and had 12 points on Saturday against the Lady Buffs. It was the sixth game she has led the team in scoring.
 
Paige Weishuhn is tied with Oliver with an 11.3 scoring average as the senior makes her trek to 1,000 career points. The center from Wall has put up 978 total points over her four-year career and has an opportunity to become the first player in program history with 30 or more blocks in all four seasons as she currently has 28 on the year.
 
Lauren Holt averaged 11 points and shot nearly .530 from the field in the Belles two games last week and is pulling in a team-best 6.5 boards per contest.
 
About Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville is coached by first-year head coach Michael Trujillo and is 7-16 for the year and 6-11 in the LSC holding the eighth and final seed for post season play. The Javelinas have won three of their last four games, including defeating fourth place Cameron, 86-65, last Thursday. TAMUK  lost its most recent contest versus Midwestern State, 86-64, on Saturday.
 
Inekka Stevenson and Amanda Haven are tied for scoring honors with a 11.4 average, closely followed by Stanley at 11.3 PPG. The 6-foot-2 Stanley is the Javelinas leading rebounder clearing 8.9 off the glass.
 
ASU in the LSC
Angelo State is one of the top defensive teams in the LSC ranking second in the conference in scoring defense (59.3), field goal defense (.373) and third in blocked shots (3.5).
 
Leah LeMaire is third in the LSC in free throw percentage at .828 with Oliver close behind at .813 and in fifth place. Oliver is also third overall in 3-point percentage (.397).
 
Weishuhn and Holt have a combined 51 blocks on the year as both ranked among the top-five in that category in league play.

Next Up for the Belles
Angelo State will return home on Saturday, as they host Incarnate Word at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center. The Belles will be playing in the second annual Pink Treadmill Walk game for the Play4Kay Foundation as they raise money for cancer awareness and research. The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
