SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball returns to Stephens Arena at the Junell Center on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. to face Eastern New Mexico in a Lone Star Conference matchup.
The Belles (7-10, 4-7 LSC) have lost three-straight games but they played one of their better games of the season on Saturday. Down 16 at the half, ASU mounted a comeback and cut it to three with 1:08 to play before Abilene Christian pulled away. The 65 points is tied for the most points scored since the Christmas break.
Four players scored double-digit points and
Karli Kellermeier recorded a career high with 10 points.
Leah LeMaire scored 11 points in the second half. After going scoreless in the first half,
Morgan Youngblood chipped in eight points.
Eastern New Mexico has lost its last five and is 3-16 and 2-9 in the LSC. Ashlee Pierson is the Zia's leading scorer at 7.2 points per game. ENMU scored 50.5 points per game but allow 65.5 points per game.
The Belles won the first matchup in Portales back on November 28. Holt scored a season high 23 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Lemaire (18) and
Cassi Stegall (11) also scored double-digit points.
Haylee Oliver still leads the Belles in scoring at 12.1 points per game with Holt averaging 11.9 per game. The Belles defense holds teams to only 36-percent from the field and it is the second-best percentage in the LSC. ASU is the league leader in rebounding margin at 6.1 per game and blocked shots at 4.2 per game.
ASU leads the all-time series with a 34-21 advantage and the Belles under Sally Walling Brooks are 21-4. Brooks is still at 399 career victories.
